Jean Hugard (1871–1959) was an Australian-born magician and author who became one of the 20th century’s most influential teachers of sleight-of-hand. After a successful performing career, Hugard turned to writing and editing, producing seminal works like Royal Road to Card Magic and co-authoring Expert Card Technique with Frederick Braué. His clear, rigorous style shaped the way magic has been taught for generations, making him a cornerstone of modern magical education.
